Logic device/transceiver/encoder
The 74AC14 and 74ACT14 contain six inverter gates each with a Schmitt trigger input. They are capable of converting slowly varying input signals into clearly defined, jitter-free output signals. In addition their noise margin is better than conventional inverters. The 74AC14 and 74ACT14 have a hysteresis (typically 1.0V) between the positive-going and negative-going input thresholds which is determined internally by the transistor ratio and are essentially insensitive to temperature and supply voltage variations.
