The MCT6X optocouplers have two channels for density applications. For quad-channel applications, two encapsulations are used to accommodate standard 16-pin DIP sockets. Each channel is an NPN silicon epitaxial planar phototransistor optically coupled to a gallium arsenide light-emitting diode.

The FODM8061 is a 3.3V/5V high-speed logic gate output (open collector) optocoupler that supports isolated communication, enabling digital signals to be communicated between systems without conducting ground loops or hazardous voltages. It utilizes ON Semiconductor's proprietary coplanar encapsulation technology Optoplanar and optimized IC design to achieve high noise immunity with high common-mode rejection specified characteristics. This optocoupler consists of an AlGaAS LED at the input, optically coupled to a high speed integrated photodetector logic gate. The output of the sense IC is an open-collector Schottky clamp transistor. Coupling parameters are guaranteed over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +110°C. Input signals up to 5mA provide a minimum output sink of 13mA (fan-out 8).
