The TL594 PWM controller combines on one chip all functions required for a pulse width modulation (PWM) control circuit. This device is primarily used for power control, providing system engineers the flexibility to tailor the power control circuit for a specific application. The TL594 PWM controller contains two error amplifiers, an on-chip adjustable oscillator, a dead-time control (DTC) comparator, a pulse-steering control flip-flop, a 5-V, 5% precision voltage regulator, and an undervoltage lockout control circuit, and output control circuit. The common-mode voltage range of the error amplifier is -0.3 V to VCC -2 V. The DTC comparator has a fixed offset value and provides approximately 5% dead time. The on-chip oscillator can be bypassed by terminating RT for the reference output and providing a sawtooth input to CT, which can also be used to drive common circuits in synchronous multirail supplies. Uncommitted output transistors provide common emitter or emitter-follower output functionality. Each device offers push-pull or single-ended output operation, selectable through the output control function. The architecture of these devices prohibits the possibility of either output being pulsed twice during a push-pull operation. The undervoltage lockout control circuit will always lock the output to guide the operation of the internal circuit. The TL594CD, CN, CDTB operate from -40C to 85C.
