The NCV70517 is a microstepping motor driver for bipolar stepper motors. The chip is connected with an external microcontroller through IO pins and SPI interface. The NCV70517 contains a current transition table to take the next microstep depending on the clock signal on the NXT input pin and the state of the DIR (direction) register or input pin. The chip provides error messages if it detects electrical errors, undervoltage, or elevated junction temperatures. It uses a proprietary PWM algorithm for reliable current control. The NCV70517 is fully automotive voltage compliant and ideal for general purpose stepper motor applications in automotive, industrial, medical and marine environments. Thanks to this technology, the device is ideal for applications using fluctuating battery power.
